Summary
The development of a deep geological repository is managed by the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority who collects with its subcontractors data for the selection of a final repository site and for the facility construction. This information must be incorporated into technical proposals supported by safety evidence of their suitability needed for repository commissioning (a safety case). The safety case must be assessed by instituitions responsible for issueing necessary permissions and licences (a site permit, construction /operation licenses), in particular the State Office for Nuclear Safety. The project objectibve is to elaborate methodology enhancing the assessment of safety of technical solutions proposed by the operator with respect to the valid legislative requirements.
